Japanese Fishing Charm

I don’t normally receive regular mail, and much to my surprise I had a package waiting for me on the table this morning. An even bigger surprise was that the package was all the way from Japan, thanks to Adam Guy. Knowing this had to be some kind of Japanese fishing item I was quick to run upstairs and open it.

The package was truely a teaser, with quite a few beautiful envelopes, leading to a beautiful Japanese fishing charm. The charm is an encased golden fishing hook on a lanyard. I’ll wait for Adam on the translation since I can’t really read Japanese, but trying to read it made me think about Hanzai Smatter.

Visit the photo gallery for more Japanese fishing charm photos, and more!

Thank you Adam!

Glad to hear the package arrived safely! Please pass one of the charms on to Clive.

    As for what it says:
On the left: “Prayer and hope for good catches”
On the right: “Safety while fishing”
Along the bottom:”Tomioka Hachimangu’ (the name of the shrine)

Keep it on your person when you go fishing!
    Cheers,
    Adam
