At Fishing Fury, we love shiny things as much as fish do - especially shiny reels. As odd as it may sound, it’s not only important that our reels function well, but that they look great too. Beauty is definitely in the eye of the beholder when it comes to reels though. Personally I prefer the appearance of a round baitcast reel, where as Jon prefers low profile. One thing with both agree on though, is that if we had the money, we would have a serious collection of pimped out reels. Here’s a list of the reels we wish we had, but probably never will.
Just the other day I had to walk down to the post office to pick up a package, which is pretty rare for me, and much to my surprise it had Pocket Hercules sticker on it. Now judging by the size of the box I knew I wasn’t going to be kicking back with a nice cold beer, but I will definitely be sporting this awesome Lakemaid Beer t-shirt this summer!
Thanks so much for the shirt guys, and let us know when your beer makes it to Canada!
This massive halibut measured 8ft 1in in length, 6ft 4in around the middle and weighed in at 443lb, 24lb more than the previous record for a line-caught halibut. That’s a whole lot of fish and chips.
Proud angler Soren Beck stands next to the enormous 8ft 1in Halibut he caught after a titanic struggle off the Norwegian coast
I always figured elephants had the largest eyes in the world, but apparently squid do. Below are the lenses taken from the eyes of a colossal squid on April 30, 2008.
The giant sea creature, caught last year off Antarctica, is believed to be the biggest squid ever captured, and scientists have determined that it has the largest eyes of any known animal.
One of my all time favorite fishing shows, Fishing with John, is without a doubt the funniest fishing show ever made - especially when Tom Waits is on it.
What do you get when you cross a 50 foot boat, eight 250 horsepower outboards and a 15000 litre fuel tank? One badass, 2000 horsepower drug running boat, thats what.
Its doesn’t look real, but according to Snopes.com, it is!
There’s no arguing this one, this is a legitimate 52 inch (131cm) pike! I wish this was caught on one of my lures, or better yet, by me.
The source appears to be Dutch, and my attempts to translate yielded some very broken English, but if anyone can tell us the story on this please leave a comment below!

Hey Peter,
Spoons will catch you several varieties of fish including two of my favorite, barracuda and jacks. If you plan to fish for tarpon the best bet is using live bait and fishing at night. Tarpon can be found though out the Virgin Islands by day and night and you should be able to find them as long as you have good eyesight! (look for schools of baitfish and pelicans)
Anegada probably holds some the best fishing in the BVI with a wide variety of species, including world class bone fishing.
