Two-Toned Lobster

A little lobster made the headlines today in local news here in Halifax. A Saulnierville lobster fisherman caught something very unique in the world of lobsters, a two-toned female lobster. I figured the lobster had been cooked on one side, but this lobster is alive and well.

My great uncle caught a two-toned lobster just like this about 70 years ago in Long Island Sound near the New Haven breakwaters. He had it stuffed and mounted and we have it to this day. Colors have faded but difference in shade is still evident. Must be a very rare mutation.
