You Can’t Put A Price On Quality

I was packing for my trip earlier today and went to put my 2 piece fishing rod into my luggage but there was one problem, it didn’t fit. I tried my shortest rod, and it didn’t fit either. Not cool. So I did what any fishing addict would do, I went shopping for a telescopic rod. Luckily I knew exactly where I could find on on the cheap, the local liquidation store. I walked out the proud owner of a $6.99 Fish Pal 6 foot telescopic rod.

I new even before I opened that package that this wasn’t going to be the highest quality rod, but I wasn’t prepared for the sheer cheapness that hid inside. I have no idea what the rod is made of, but its seems to be the constancy of charcoal. The reel barely turns, and is made entirely of low quality plastic, even the screws. Luckily, I’ll be using my own reels and hopefully the rod doesn’t melt when it gets wet.

I’ll be sure to review this incredible combo as soon as I return!

Pre-loaded with 6-10 pound line. Were not really sure if its 6 or 10, but it’s definitely not 11 pound line and its defiantly made in Taiwan.

You’re so lucky mate, all that good gear you get to try out, i’m so jealous!…..Seriously though i’ll be in the same boat so to speak when i come for my hols next year to Canada, the problem of rod’s, my reel is coming with me as hand luggage but as for the rod, i don’t fancy Musky fishing with one of them!!!

actually southbend puts out a fairly decent rod and reel combo pretty cheap i carry one in my tool bag for work …cause sometimes ya never know when you will have the chance to kill worms , lose lures or just wet the line

Hope it holds up for ya. Why not just pick up a rod that will fit down there and transport it back? Bee bought one of those liqudation store rods last year. A fishergirl combo I think. One cast = One snag = Broken rod. I was just glad it was her rod she snapped and not mine.

You need a ‘Ron Popeil’s pocket-fisherman’!

Re: Chasing Barracuda - Anegada, British Virgin Islands

Hey Peter, Spoons will catch you several varieties of fish including two of my favorite, barracuda and jacks. If you plan to fish for tarpon the best bet is using live bait and fishing at night. Tarpon can be found though out the Virgin Islands by day and night and you should be able to find them as long as you have good eyesight! (look for schools of baitfish and pelicans) Anegada probably holds some the best fishing in the BVI with a wide variety of species, including world class bone fishing. If you plan to fish from a boat you are [...]
