The world record largemouth bass has stood since 1932, and in the United States there is no greater fishing record. In 2006, a potential record bass was caught, but was released because it was foul hooked. The huge bass, known as “Dottie” had been caught before, and had become a local legend on Dixon Lake in California. This past Mothers day Dottie was found dead after spawning. The hopes of a new world record largemouth may have died with her, but I’d like to think that there is a 25 pounder still swimming out there, somewhere.
Read the story of Dottie at ESPN.
