Strange Catch

On our fishing adventures we occasional catch some pretty strange things. Jon once caught a 15 pound anchor while we were trolling for musky. Its was a tough battle, but eventually he landed it (thanks Power Pro!) and we used it until we got rid of our canoe. We’ve caught shoes, socks, underwear and even caught dead fish, but the strangest thing - a toilet seat.

Whats the strangest thing you’ve ever caught?

A mountain bike.

The anchor also had about 100 feet of perfectly good rope!

Jonathon Marshall on October 2nd, 2008 @ 10:05 pm

I knew you’d say that! You sure loved that rope.

Clive Mathias on October 2nd, 2008 @ 10:10 pm

That is just so wrong.

A can of Coke with an octopus living in it.

Wow, you guys must be fishing in some ‘interesting’ waters. Only thing I’ve caught that was odd in the many years I’ve been fishing was my younger brother while deep sea fishing with our Grandpa. He wieghed in at 70lbs and was easily the most pissed off catch I’ve ever had.

Ken Reece on October 3rd, 2008 @ 8:39 am

I really like the shirt and belt combo!!

Adrian on October 3rd, 2008 @ 9:07 am

ken im pretty sure that 23lb. pike was pretty pissed off too.Not to mention the bottom of the lake you had anchored while you drunks trolled into shore.

Gary Switlick on October 3rd, 2008 @ 9:16 am

I was just gonna comment on the belt. Doh! Too late!.

I know a guy that caught the clap once… (once that he told people about a anyhow)

Probably shouldna’ typed this but just had a few too many pints and sushi!

The strangest thing I’ve caught? While fishing in a lake near an old artillery range used by the Canadian Army I once dragged out an unexploded artillery shell!

Steel heading the eastern tribs has allowed me to catch many a shopping cart and old bike frame. The best “catch” I ever witnessed was 2 or so years ago at a get together in Picton for fall walleye action. Lex pulled out a coffee maker right off the dock in Picton harbor, we never did find the coffee pot to match it although many incidental walleye were caught trying to find the pot.

I almost forgot, Jon also caught a pair of sunglasses during our last trip to Little Vermilion .

Clive Mathias on October 3rd, 2008 @ 6:31 pm

A fully-opened patio umbrella while trolling in front of Goreski’s Marina on The Bog. It was full of zebra mussels & also had a Swimm Whizz + a beatle-spin still attached to it!
Got some great pictures of it too.
JB, the coffee pot was too much. I remember him pulling it up onto the dock, & the look on his face….LMAO!

Re: Frog Versus Sparrow: Frog wins...Seriously

Nature at it's best. I've never seen this before but after seeing......I BELIEVE. Kinda feel sorry for the sparrow but I guess it's survival of the fittest

Re: Explosive Fishing Techniques

ok how can anybody ever think that dynamite fishing and cyanide fishing is morally right?? i just want to go and yell in their faces and make them feel so dang guilty because you guys are harming more than the killing of fish you are harming the ecosystem!! and its only kiling the earth even faster so when the world is coming to an end then i am going to go right up to you guys and just say now how do you feel being responsible for the end of the earth and the death of thousands thank you!

Re: Stormy Kromer Hat Contest!

I'm not much for a pithy comment, but I thought I'd leave a note about how honored I be to wear Kromer on my upcoming annual pheasant hunting trip to South Dakota. I'm sure that my hunting buddies will joke about how silly I look while they wear their stylized broad brim hunting caps, but I'll be laughing on the inside as my head stays nice and warm. I'll be laughing al the more when the stiff South Dakota wind picks up and Kromer is staying put. Finally, with the fall bite on, I know my new Kromer will call the [...]
