Name That Fish!

I came across these incredible photos on an Asian fishing forum earlier today. This is a species you’ll probably never see in North America, except at a pet store. Name that fish!

Nothing that would change the world (just my usual crap!) I was just saying how these fish and a lot more like them shouldn’t be allowed to be sold to the general public if they can’t prove they have the huge quarters needed to keep these fish in the adult size that they will get…These Red Tails at just 2 inches will get 1 foot long within 6 months with proper care…I would kill to be able to have a fish of that size in the picture in my house as a pet, it’s a real tank buster.

    Redtail Catfish is correct.
    According to Wikipedia:
“The redtail catfish, Phractocephalus hemioliopterus, is a pimelodid (long-whiskered) catfish named for its red or orange caudal fin. In Venezuela it is known as cajaro and in Brazil it is known as pirarara.[1] It is the only extant species of the genus Phractocephalus. This fish originates from South America. Despite reaching a large size, this fish is a common aquarium fish.”
