I’ve got to hand it to Abel Reels. They are without a doubt the most unique reel makers on earth. Able regularly introduces limited edition reels with incredible art work, and you can even have a custom design made you your reel is truly one of a kind. Check out these new reels featuring the artwork of Derek DeYoung.
So my question is, would you use a reel like this, or keep it in your house as a piece of art?

This is an easy one, i’d take it out, use it, drop it on something, scratch it all up and moan like F**k when i have to shell out a load more dosh on another!…And even though i know how it would pan out, i’d still go ahead and do it anyway!
In order for it to be true art, it has to have no other purpose. So by that definition it’s not art, but I’d love one to keep behind glass that I took out every now and then to catch some fish. That said, all of the Abel reels are beautiful and I’d be happy to have any of them.
These are pretty sweet!
I disagree with J Marshall, art can be functional. That being said, I think Abel should focus on the design of their reels and save the artwork for the staff tattoo party.
