1000 Posts!

We just passed a big milestone here at Fishing Fury – 1000 posts, and nearly 600 of those came in 2008! We’ve grown to be one of the most popular fishing blogs and certainly the most updated. When Jon and I started the site, we didn’t have the time to update it as much as we would have liked, and really we still don’t, but we do the best we can to bring you something new to look at and read on a regular basis. The site has undergone many changes and revisions over the years, and thanks to Jon’s design skills we’ve been able to introduce fresh, user friendly designs each year. In case you haven’t been around since the beginning, here are a few of our old designs!

Fishing Fury Jul 2004Fishing fury began in July 2004 with this simple black splash page. Originally the page featured an excited little girl holding onto a largemouth bass with the look of fury in her eye. I can’t track down the original photo, but the text says it all.

Fury OLIVE 2004Fury BLACK 2006Fury WHITE 2008

All of the old sites were very dark, but in 2008 we gave white a chance, and we haven’t looked back. The latest edition of the site maintains the white theme and as you can no doubt see, adds several new features including links to recent posts and featured articles. With you continued support, the site will grow even more – thanks for all the fish!

How many of you actually remember the old sites?

I think I remember one of the old sites. Especially with the first T.O. island Pike reports.
There was one picture in particular that I rememeber vividly. It had all 3 Fury dudes leaning on a chain link fence, looking all gangster, & Clive had a handgun belt buckle!
I remember thinking “wow, don’t wanna meet these guys in a dark alley!”

Been here since the first site. Watching the Evolution of FF has been a great journey. Man did we ever have fun back then. I remember skipping work to go explore new waters with Clive and watching both of your videos out on the deck sippin on beers before they got posted to the old sites. You lads have done a great job over the years and continue to do so. Don’t know what I would do without my daily fix of FF!!

Gary, I was the one that smacked him in the nuts.. LOL

MuskyBill, I still have that photo I’ll have to put it in the gallery. We definitely felt like we owned those islands that year and I think our attitude portrayed that. I’m glad Clive still has screenshots of those sites, I sure don’t. I can’t even imagine all the iterations of photo galleries I’ve written at this point hah.

One thing I will say is that I love Wordpress! This site has been running wordpress since late 2004/early 2005, I think.

The Fishin’s Fine Furious In Toronto

Last week I did an interview with Bryn Weese (left) of the Toronto Sun about TTC accessible fishing spots around Toronto. Turns out that Bryn is an avid fisherman himself and we ended up talking about much more than could fit in the article. Jonathan Marshall [sic] and Clive Mathias, creators of the website [...]
