BVI Dreaming

As some of you know, I was born in the British Virgin Islands. I haven’t lived there since I was a little boy, but I did enjoy a prolonged stay there in 2006. I still feel homesick whenever I think of the islands and maybe one day, my family and I can move back. For now, I resort to watching old videos we made while we were there a few years back. Lots of warm weather and lots of excellent fishing, it doesn’t get much better then that.

PS. If anyone needs an island fishing guide and has the cash to cover my expenses to get there, I’m all yours!

Beats the City anyday eh?!…By the way Clive, was that an Ugly Stik Tiger Rod you were using, it looked like it but it wasn’t a real close up!

Yeah, its an Ugly Stik Tiger tuna rod. I got in in Mexico for 1000 pesos. It’s a little overkill for the fishing I was doing in the BVI, but the second rod I had with me was way too light for most of the fish there.

The reel was a Calcutta 251 if anyone is interested. It was up to the task of landing a bunch of nice tarpon – but the drag system has never been the same!

It’s better to be overkill than seeing the biggest fish in your life swimming off into the distance after he’s just snapped your Rod in half!

It is overkill for any fishing we did with it. I used it for a brief period as a Pike rod and it was like casting with a telephone pole lol. Sure it would be a great rod for the right fish, aka a tuna!

Awesome, I really wish I had been there with you guys. Though I was in Mexico at the time I certainly can’t complain.. Hopefully we’ll be making some waves in BVI this fall..
