Mike Iaconelli

It’s not often I read anything positive about pro bass fishermen Mike Iaconelli. My fellow fishing bloggers seem to really hate the guy for some reason. Now I haven’t seen much of him, but what I have seen, I like. The man has an absolute passion for the sport of fishing and shows. Sure he hams it up for the camera and is loud, but I think he’s good for fishing and his antics will be sure to attract new people to the sport. Just check this out…

I mean, who does that?

Ive done something similar to that before.

But what gets me is how cant he line break with such a small fish?

Judging by him pulling the line out there was probably a twist in the line or it got wrapped around something. It looks like your typical 10-12 pound mono, very easy to break if it gets caught on something.

That said nothing is more priceless than the look on his face. Sheer determination. I know mike gets a bad rap but personally everything I’ve seen or read about him only make me like him more.

I’ve grabbed fish that spit the hook, but never grabbed broken line like that.

My guess is his line had some damage and he hadn’t re-tied in a while.

Mike gets a bad rap. From conservatives who plain just can’t step outside their mental boundaries to people that are straight up jealous that their favorite fisherman doesn’t have that much personality. We call these individuals “haters” and they are in all sports. But what they forget is that every blog, forum post, article, and conversation that they have make this person stronger and more popular. Remember bad publicity is still publicity.

Cerralvo Island, February 26th 2005

The sky, now turning from a pale grey to a wondrous blue in announcement of the rapidly approaching sun illuminated our mountainous silhouette surroundings. As the sun ascended over the mountain tops the desert awoke reaching upwards with an infinite number of cacti fingers. It was a marvelous spectacle to watch as small flocks of birds darted out of their nests and larger predatory birds appeared soring above. It was as if that single ray of sunshine swept the desert with a breath of extraordinary life.
