A guide I worked with Matt Cornell owns two unofficial world records that are advertised on the Plummers Arctic Lodges site(great bear lake) as 78 lbs and another 74 lber. They were ruled out as he assisted the landing. But they were larger than this one. When you look at the pictures its unbelievable to see in comparison to a grown man.
Also the gill net record is so not accurate. There are lake trout landed by native nets in Saskatchewan, NWT and Nunavut that exceed 100 lbs every so often. I cant believe 102 is the largest for that kinda record. No native in these areas reports their catches to anyone.
If you go to LaRonge Saskatchewan to the trading post you can see another 80 lber on the wall. Ridiculous looking fish. One day. One day :) The more you wet your noodle in the right waters. one day.

You guys might be interested at a lake trout mount that hangs in the saskatchewan fish hatcherey near Fort Qu'Appelle saskatchewan. The fish was caught in a net. and ways over 100 pounds no lie the mount is very old and worn out but the size is unbeilivable
