New All-Tackle Brown Trout World Record!

The IGFA recently announced a huge brown trout caught in September is officially a record! The massive fish weighed 41 lbs 7 oz (18.8 kg) and measured in at 43.75 inches with a girth of 27 inches. The trout was caught in the Manistee River, Michigan, USA.


Caught on September 9, 2009 by Tom Healy.


Healy was using a #8 silver Rapala Shad Rap.

    Wow, what a beaut, reminds me of the large rainbows lurking underneath the salmon farms on the hydro canals near Twizel. Locals often catch so many they have to bottle them as there are too many to eat, or swap for some thar meat!

    I might be mistaken but I believe this trout mount is hanging in the Cabela’s in Dundee.  I overheard a storeclerk talking about it’s recent arrival.  It’s all the way in back in the with the lures.
