Surfboard Shark Fishing

This video is certainly more believable then the last shark fishing surfer we saw. As far as I’m concerned, fishing from a surfboard is a great idea. Seriously, I’d love to have one of these paddleboards for fishing the flats!

Seriously, sooner or later you lose balance standing up on a board or a kayak, and then what do you do – dive to find your tackle and swim with the sharks?

Here’s some food for thought:

Wow! This video gives surfing and fishing a whole new meaning. I am Captain of Key Limey Charters and have fished the FL Key’s flats for lemons with Bill Dance. I think I’ll stick with fishing from a boat. If you’re in the market to Charter a fishing trip for the flats or offshore, check us out. We have some of the best guides in Key West, FL.
Keep it reel,
Captain Tony Murphy

From The Table of Adam Guy – “Madako”, Japanese Octopus

To catch such octopus, one employs a special tackle comprising a hooked, weighted wooden board about eight inches in length, to which a crab is tied, upside-down. Octopi apparently have a great weakness for crab, particularly those with their vulnerable underbelly exposed to attack. The baited device is lowered into the water using a thick nylon/polyester line, and then jigged up-and-down by hand on the seafloor. Octopus usually feel the bait with their tentacles before launching themselves onto it, and this can be felt in one's hands as a sort of 'sticking' feeling.
