The TACKOBOX SmartRod is supposedly the “world’s first and only programmable fishing rod using computer controlled accelerometer technology”. Which is really just a fancy way of saying it’s a fishing rod with a built-in programmable bite alarm that “feels” vibrations in the rod and alarms when it “thinks” you have a fish. Check out this promo video below and let us know what you think.
The SmartRod won’t be a headline sponsor for the B.A.S.S., but you can bet there’s market for these in the UK where carp fishing and bite alarms go together like fish and chips.

I love the idea and would use it when bait fishing like when soaking chunks of herring for striped bass but I would want something I could clamp onto one of my own rods or switch to a different style of rod for different types of bait fishing.
Wow! What will they come up with next.
That’s all seems ok and not a bad ideabut it’s a lot of hassle and would never be used here in England, you would just use a standard bite alarm still…I’d also like to see what the rod would handle like if a 30 or 40 pound plus carp was on the end of it as well!
