My Last Wish: Feed Me To The Fish!

I’ve always thought a burial at sea or to be lit on fire on a massive stone alter (like in Conan The Barbarian) would be the best way to go out, but Pete Hodge had an even better idea, he had is ashes turned into fishbait!

Mrs Hodge, 56, said: ‘Pete always said that when he died he wanted the fish to gobble him up so he could swim up and down the river after his death.

Pete Hodge, you are a legend!

Extreme Slip’n Slide

And now for something completely different. While this isn’t fishing related, it’s too wild not to share.

And remember kids, when you have a lake, a boat, a rope, a bunch of garbage bags and balls of steel, anything is possible!

Amphibian Truck, For Those Hard To Fish Places

Designed around a Chevy Trailblazer, this green machine can transform from a land love to a sea monster in 18 seconds. On land the truck travels on two one-foot-wide rubber treads and on water the big Chevy engine engine drives an outboard propeller. The best part - this beast can reach 30 MPH!

How To Fillet A Pike

Pike season in my old stomping grounds of Ontario is starting at the beginning of May. Since we have a large number of readers from Ontario I figured we should put the spotlight on these toothy critters (even more so then usual). Generally we recommend catch and release for these beautiful fish, but if you should decide to keep a few to eat, heres great video on how to fillet them.

Low Budget Fishing

I often consider myself a low budget fisherman. Many fishermen have a different rod and reel for every species they fish for, while I prefer to carry just one or two combos that cover all species. I even started making my own lures a few years back to save money. A lot of anglers get caught up in sending big bucks on the latest and greatest fishing technology, spending hundreds, and even thousands of dollars on reels. Fishing doesn’t have to be expensive though, just ask Ed Engleman.

Ed has dedicated his site to low budget fishing equipment you can build yourself. While some of his creations aren’t too aesthetically pleasing, they function just fine. With his instructions you can make your own fishing rigs and fly-tying vices for less then $6 each!
