Realistic Fishing Simulator
I saw this in person a few years ago at a fishing expo and it looked like a lot of fun.

This looks like the logical evolution of the computerized fishing game: catch a virtual fish, receive a real fish. I know this sounds made up but it isn’t. A game called Ippon Zuri (which means pole-and-line fishing), has teamed up with a local seafood wholesaler to make your virtual catches a reality. Incredibly, this game is played on your cell phone!
To catch a fish players use the phone keys to cast bait to the fish. When the fish takes the bait, the player is sent to a slot machine screen where they try to match three numbers. The virtual fish is hooked and reeled in if all three numbers match. A message is then sent to the wholesaler, who picks up the fish from the local seafood market and delivers it to the player’s doorstep. The fish arrives whole and uncooked!
So whats the catch? Well for starters its pay per play (1,000 yen or approximately $9.25 USD for 3 games), and secondly the deal is only open to you if you live in a certain area of Japan.
Personally I think this is quite ingenious.

I’ve been planning to buy a Nintendo Wii for a long time now. It’s the only new console I can afford (barely) and my experience playing it at Jons house left me wanting more. I’ve been reading about all the accessories lately, and they are pretty ridiculous, especially this fishing rod addition for the wii-mote. First off, I don’t really understand how the little fish on the end can simulate a real fishing experience. Secondly, who has a room big enough swing this rod around. I can only imagine how many poor children have lost an eye as a result of this silly invention.
I know my buddy Jonny has been enjoying some wii fishing games, and he does like to buy a new fishing rod every week, but I doubt even he would try this one…

This entry is completely unrelated to fishing, but as a gamer, it’s exciting news! This game was first announced back in the late 90’s and this is the first major news on it in years.
Here at FishingFury we love video games, especially fishing video games, and games with fishing mini-games like the up and coming Twilight Princess on the Nintendo Wii. For those of you that aren’t hip to the next generation of console gaming, the Wii uses a wireless motion-sensing remote, meaning you actually play the game by your actions and not just buttons. Check out the video to see what I mean.
Sure, there have been tons of rpg’s with fishing mini-games, just none so eloquent.
I just had to share this one. The animation is awesome, it has very 90’s console gaming look and feel with crazy pop culture references and cameos. Paul Robertson’s Pirate Babys Cabana Battle Street Fight 2006.
At the end of this short film, you’ll see a graphic illustration of Christopher Walken. If you can stomach zombie babies bursting forth from women’s wombs.
