Explosive Tarpon

Just about every part of tarpon fishing is thrilling, but nothing gets that heart racing like that initial attack.

Massive Thresher Shark

Thresher sharks are onf of my favorite types of sharks. They are notorious for strong fights and big jumps and are one of the most easily identifiable sharks thanks to a huge tail fin that is 1/3 of its total size.

Octopus Form Japan

Long-time reader Chris sent in some photos from his latest fishing adventure in Japan. Check out the size of this octopus!

I went octopus fishing in Kobe, Japan last week. I caught a 3.5 kg monster. I am told he would be 3 years old. My first octopus and first time fishing for them! Not a bad first day. Unfortunately, no one else caught anything that day, but there is always next week!
Here are a few photos. The crab was the bait!

The Longest Flying Fish Flight

A Japanese TV crew has filmed the longest flight time for a flying fish at 45 seconds. I’m not sure whats more impressive, the fact that these fish can fly, or the fact that they can hold their breath for 45 seconds - I can barely do that!

Re: Chasing Barracuda - Anegada, British Virgin Islands

Hey Peter, Spoons will catch you several varieties of fish including two of my favorite, barracuda and jacks. If you plan to fish for tarpon the best bet is using live bait and fishing at night. Tarpon can be found though out the Virgin Islands by day and night and you should be able to find them as long as you have good eyesight! (look for schools of baitfish and pelicans) Anegada probably holds some the best fishing in the BVI with a wide variety of species, including world class bone fishing. If you plan to fish from a boat you are [...]
