New Winter World Record Live Release Walleye Caught- ON TAPE!

When you’re filming for a tv show you want to catch fish as often as possible, and as big as possible. Well things could not have gone better during this filming of No Excuses Outdoor TV in Saskatchewan. Throughout the video they’re landing nice walleye pretty consistently, but at about nine and a half minutes a 14 pound mega-walleye shows up for his 15 minutes of fame.

The fish was caught on a PK Lures PK spoon, and the man who caught it is Tim Geni. You can check out more great videos on PK lures website and you can read more about this world record catch on the Saskatchewan Tourisum website.

Our Interview with FLW Walleye Angler of the Year Paul Meleen

It was only about a week ago that we posted about our upcoming interview with FLW pro angler Paul Meleen. We asked you, our readers, to submit a few questions you had for Paul and you did! Well, we took those questions with us and got the answers straight from the pro’s mouth! It was a great pleasure to have the opportunity to chat with Paul and we’ll be sure to keep a close eye on him come next year on the FLW Walleye tour.

Here’s a quick teaser from our interview, but you’ll have to click through to read the full thing.

Fishing Fury: What do you feel is the overwhelming appeal of walleye that creates such fanatical followers?

Paul Meleen: I think the biggest thing is that walleye fishing is a way of life. It’s been passed on from generation to generation, so it runs in the blood in a way. But another big part of it is the nature of the fish. Walleye can be very finicky. Many other species can be finicky as well, but not like walleye. So I think out of necessity the skill set of your average walleye angler is much more advanced than that of anglers targeting other species.

The Detroit River Walleye Run is an Urban Fishing Dreamland

Don’t think the Detroit River is one of the premiere urban fishing destinations in North America? Think again, you’re about to get schooled. You won’t find any signs of the great outdoors on this trip, trees and mountains will be juxtaposed with factories and smoke stacks. But the fishing, oh boy. You won’t believe me until you watch this video anyway, so press play.
