I stayed up late last night getting my lure website ready to launch. As many of you know, Jon is the one responsible for designing Fishingfury.com from scratch. I took the easy way out and started work on Rockstarlures.com using a pre-made template. I made several changes to tweak the page to suit my needs and style. It is NOT easy doing this web design stuff and I really gotta give props to Jon for making Fishing Fury look as great as it does.
Since spring is in the air, this is the perfect time to stock up on some lures. I’ll be adding new lures regularly and discount prices are available to anyone buying 5 or more lures. You can even request lures designs to meet your specific needs. Click the image below to view the new Rockstar Lures site!
I have been meaning to post these for a while but I have a really bad memory sometimes. Here is a collection of fish my friend Grant in and near Toronto caught using Rockstar Lures last season. He normally uses them to target pike and musky, but has caught bass and walleye with them as well. Grant just received an order of five new lures, so I’m sure well be seeing a lot more photos of his great catches here soon! There have been seven species of fish caught with my spinnerbaits so far, and I hope to add trout and salmon to the list this season!
Ever since I introduced Rockstar Lures I have been busy working on new lure designs. I have had a few people request some pike lures, which are most definitely my area of expertise. I created a few new lures this week that I don’t want to part with, but I’ve already received a payment, and I’ll be shipping them tomorrow with a couple other shipments to my buddy Jonny and the only person who has caught as many fish on my lures as me, Grant.
I’m not sure when I’ll get to pike fish this year (if at all) so you guys better catch some big ones for me! And just in case anyone wants to help fund a pike trip for the good ole boys of Fishing Fury, just send us an email at staff@fishingfury.com
Also, on the topic of lures, you will have the opportunity to win free lures if you submit photos to Fishing Fury. The person who submits the most images by the end of June will get two Rockstar Lures!
Anyway, here are a couple of the lures soon to be shipped!
It has been over two years since I started making my own spinner baits. I’ve sold a couple along the way, buy usually just gave them away to people so they could test them out and let me know what they think. I have made dozens of designs and thanks to feedback from my fellow fishermen and readers of Fishing Fury, I have all but perfected my lures. I’ve been able to prove that my lures can catch musky and pike consistently, as well as several other species of fish. Although several of my designs worked well, one stood out as being the best. I just opened an online shop on Etsy to make these lures available to you. I’ll be updating new lures every chance I get. And if there are specific colours you need, just let me know. All the proceeds will go toward fishing trips for Jon and I.
Though I’ve been missing in action these past weeks, I’m definitely not dead. In fact I’ve been hard at work the whole time, though admittedly some of it (okay, most of it) has been less than enjoyable. However, I’ve gotten a lot done, a large portion of it will be appearing here in the next month and Clive has done an outstanding job at keeping the site updated. Go Team Fury!
I’ve just finished uploading all of our awesome fishing videos to Vimeo. It’s yet another online video sharing site with a few nuances that will make the average video producer extremely happy. I will still continue to upload our videos to YouTube, but only because it’s so popular and will expose more people to our videos. Vimeo on the other hand is a much smaller site, and offers a greater range of features in my opinion.
First, Vimeo videos are much higher quality, and after uploading a few videos I noticed that Vimeo did not squash and distort our wide screen videos. That alone was reason enough for me to upload the rest of our videos, but there’s more… Vimeo also offers a full download of the original source video (the video I uploaded), and they’re already ahead of the game offering a high definition video channel. Here’s to hoping I can get my hands on an HD camera for 2008!
They’ve even got cool widgets, like the one below, you can embed on your site.
* Note: It seems the Little Vermilion video I uploaded is still being processed and may not play through this widget.
I’ve been busy trying to master the art of powder coating my lures. I have progressively been getting better each lure I paint. Here are some example of my most recent creations.
If you haven’t read our Little Vermilion Lake 2007 fishing logs, prepare to get pumped up in preparation for reading it! Most of you know by now that Clive has been building his own custom in-line spinnerbaits, not to mention fishing with them almost non-stop, and there is a good reason for that. His lures have been catching fish everywhere he goes, bass, muskie, even a few pike at Toronto Islands.
It is undoubtedly even more exciting to catch a trophy pike on a lure you only built the night before, but the idea of having the ability to build a lure on-the-spot for the conditions your currently fishing is unheard of. Not to mention that when one of the pike at Little Vermilion Lake was hooked very deep Clive simply cut his lure in half and rebuilt it in less than 5 minutes right on the water. I was very impressed.
Without further delay, may I present to you our first of many videos from Little Vermilion Lake. In this video Clive shows off a few of the many fish he caught on his custom lures, none of the fish shown were caught on anything else, and how he rebuilt his lure after having to cut it in half so he didn’t injure the pike needlessly. I think this could very well be the longest video we’ve done so far, and I think it goes without saying that we couldn’t put together a video without at least one of those trophy northerns from Little Vermilion Lake.
I should also point out that Clive gave this lure away to an OFN’er we met on the dock as we were just leaving Little Vermilion. I hope the lure did just as well for him, and I really hope to see some photos and hear his thoughts. So if you’re that guy please contact us!
Of course not everyone has the time to build their lures, or the money for the initial sets of hardware. Still, I’m sure you’d like to get your hands on one of these trophy producing lures and maybe you can. If you’re seriously interested in these lures leave a comment here or email Clive and let him know. I’m sure we’ll see an article all about building custom lures from Clive, and maybe even a price list of some sort in the near future.
Finally, for those of you who would rather see that video again in full resolution (and with better audio) you can download it from our site.
