I’m happy to report that the good people of Toronto appear to be taking Earth Day very seriously. I noticed a lot more people biking and carpooling to work this morning which resulted in lower volumes on the major highways near my house.
On March 1, 2015, The Kokemachine will walk 18km across the mighty and very iced up Lady Nipissing to help some gentlemen with disabilities raise money to fulfill their dream of owning a motorcycle with a sidecar. Rene, Chris and Marc with the help of supportive staff and friends have been on a mad dash to raise cash to put them in the rider’s seat of a super slick ride. So far they’ve got a gofundme page, an upcoming rock show in downtown North Bay and have already held a rock n’ roll memorabilia auction. To further juice up their cash bags the Kokemachine has opted to take a walk, long and frosty across his beloved lake Nipissing. Please help these guys spread the word and raise some BUXX for their awesome dream.
Check out this 4 Eel style promo video and please donate at gofundme/lakewalk.
When is Earth Day?
Earth Day is honored around the world on April 22, although larger events such as festivals and rallies are often organized for the weekends before or after April 22. Many communities also observe Earth Week or Earth Month, organizing a series of environmental activities throughout the month of April.
Why do we need an Earth Day?
Because it works! Earth Day broadens the base of support for environmental programs, rekindles public commitment and builds community activism around the world through a broad range of events and activities. Earth Day is the largest civic event in the world, celebrated simultaneously around the globe by people of all backgrounds, faiths and nationalities. More than a billion people participate in our campaigns every year.
