Behold The Tent You Hang from a Tree

Ok, it’s not a tent at all, I’ll admit that. However one of these could totally be a lightweight replacement to a tent for long hiking and portaging trips where lightweight everything is essential. This netted cocoon hammock is a perfect place to sleep under the stars and keep the mosquitos away!

Columbia Drainmaker- First Impressions

I recently received an email from Columbia about doing a review on one of their products. Needless to say I was very very excited at the opportunity. Columbia is a well known company for producing great products for the outdoors, and I’ve owned several great Columbia products in the past and have always been happy with them.

I was going to receive one of two products either the Columbia Drainmaker shoes, or the Columbia Air Gill shirt, both of which look great and retail for about $80. Well, last tuesday morning when I arrived back from another portage in Algonquin Park I found a package on my desk that contained a size 11 pair of Drainmaker shoes! It’s only a shame they didn’t arrive the week earlier so that I could have tested them on my last trip and because I think they would probably the best warm weather shoes for the task. But I will be heading back to Algonquin several more times this year so putting these shoes through some serious tests is not going to be a problem. Check out this quick video demo of the features.

So far I can tell you that the shoes are extremely light, and the wet grip soles might just blow your mind, even on everyday surfaces like my hard wood floor these shoes feel quite “sticky”. As you saw in the video the entire sole of the shoe is one big drainage mould pulling water right out of the shoe and draining it to the back through the larger holes. The other fantastic part about these shoes is that they look great, they haven’t sacrificed any looks while making these specialized shoes, you could easily put these side by side with any modern running shoe in the same price range.

RIP Ryan Dunn

As many of you probably know by now, Jackass star Ryan Dunn died in a car accident late Sunday night. Sad to see him go at such a young age. For those of you who aren’t familiar with the crazy stunts of Ryan Dunn, here’s a short highlight reel.

Beware of Bungie Bridge Bears

Or if you prefer a boring headline, “How to recue a 250-pound bear stuck under a California bridge.” Apparently this black bear tried to cross the two lange bridge and was spooked by cars coming from both directions, instead of moving on, it decided to jump over the railing and some how managed to find the ledge right below the bridge.

Now if you wanted to get a base jumper off a bridge you just have to tell him you wont arrest him, he won’t believe you and he’ll just jump anyway.

Thanks to Jerry for sending me the photos!!

Behold The Boat Wheelie

Now if you did this while trolling for musky you would really blow my mind!

Bird VS Fish

I’m no ornithologist but I already had my bets on the great blue heron.
