Catch Of The Day: Womens Underpants

Tokyo police recently arrested a man with a passion for fishing - fishing for women’s underwear. Akira Hino was arrested for stealing underwear hanging from a laundry pole on a second floor balcony. Apparently, he used a 10 foot rod and snagged the undies with a hook.

When police arrived at his house they found more than 500 pairs of women’s underwear! But it gets better, he reportedly told investigators he had got into the habit of stealing undies more then 30 years ago!

Thanks Chris!

Two Pound Tench

Here’s the first time we’ve seen a tench on Fishing Fury. This beauty two pounder was caught by Mark in England.

Hi mate, no cats the other night but my 1st Tench. It was only 2lbs, but if you get one at 6lbs or over it’s considered a trophy so I wasn’t too gutted. They have a lovely Bass green but you cant see it with the flash.

Big Brook Trout

One of the things I love most about fishing is seeing the joy that it brings to people of all ages. Sherman was kind enough to send us these photos of his 60 year old father and the biggest trout he has ever caught! What a beauty!

This is a email about my 60 year old father and his brook trout. He lives in the Gaspe Coast, there the trout fishing is great but they don’t grow to a big size. They are anywhere between 8 to 12 inches, thats the normal size for our brook trout…so my dad and I decided to fish a lake that a brook was feeding into. We both knew there were a lot of brook trout in this lake for we fished it for years as well as other families. That day was a day we will never forget. We were fishing with fly rods and we weren’t having a lot of success, so we trolled the lake with spinners. I gave my rod to my dad and I put a Mepps on (just to try and see) and all of a sudden this trout hit and the water went flying everywhere. It took 10 minutes with 6 lbs fishing line, but we managed to get it into the boat. Well the trout measured 19 inches and 4 and 1/2 pounds. Wow what a fish! We were going to release it when we saw the hook went into the left eyeball which cause too much damage to release. I have some pics of this trout for you to see. We so wanted to put it back but we didn’t want it to suffer with this injury.

This trout is the biggest trout he has ever caught in his life and it makes me proud that I was there to share it with him.

Blacktip Fishing In North Carolina

I’ve caught a few blacktips in my day, but none anywhere near as big as these guys!

North Carolina blacktip sharks

Just wanted to say I love the site. Wanted to share some pictures of a recent fishing trip we had off the coast of NC. Me and four friends chartered a boat, same guys that we always use out of Little River, SC. I had the feeling that they didn’t feel like going to the Gulf Stream that day, so they talked us into shark fishing. None of us had done it before and let me just say it was one of the most fun 10 hours I had on a boat. We caught some nice blacktips, got boarded by the coast guard…you know, just a typical day. Hope you enjoy them.

15 Pound Carp

Mark was sure he had caught his personal best carp, but this beauty fell just short.

When it came to the net I was convinced I had my PB and guessed 17. I was surprised when it only hit 15. I was convinced it was heavier!

In other news, I’ve reviewed all of our submissions for the first half of 2008, and you have narrowly beat out the competition with the most contributions (photos, videos, articles, links, comments…) to Fishing Fury. I’ll contact you about your prize right away!

Reader submissions have already been great in the second half of 2008, so keep contributing to win prizes!

Family Fishing

I strongly believe that it is very important to introduce children to the outdoors at a young age. As a child, I was very lucky to grow up near lakes, rivers and forests and learned to respect nature at a young age. A lot of kids today, especially ones in big cities are never taught to appreciate nature and I find that very sad.

I’m always delighted when people send in photos of fishing trips with their kids. Adam send in these photos of himself and his son fishing back in July. I cant wait till my son is old enough to explore new lakes with me!

Re: Season Closer

I'm not 100% sure, but I think they get a little darker as they age. The biggest I've caught was about 14 inches long and still had these colours.

Re: Season Closer

Do these colours stay with the fish or as it gets bigger and older it fades or morphs into something else?

Re: Sailfish Nursery

Your lakes must have high salinity content if they can hold fish like that in Bill...I know what you mean by the aquarium thing though, would be nice
