The aquarium in the Dubai mall has sprung a leak! This enormous tank holds 2 million gallons of water and over 33,000 sea creatures. The leak started spraying out sea water into the mall through a crack in the 30″ clear acrylic walls, no idea how the crack happened though. A representative from Dubai’s civil defense force says it’s no under control and being fixed.
Why do I get the feeling that once Dubai goes bankrupt it’s going to turn into some kind of Bioshock style wasteland. Well, without all the 20’s flapper and fountainhead undertones..
Monday’s are the worst. We’ve had a pretty cold and rainy weekend here and I felt we could all use a good steamy monday morning video. In this video Julie Klaz goes deep sea fishing with Captain Geza on the Akua in the waters off Kona in search of mahi-mahi and marlin.

My mom used to tell me stories about swimming with massive schools of juvenile barracudas when she was young, but I could never imagine what it would be like until I saw this photo. Although I’ve never heard of barracudas attacking swimmers, they certainly have the teeth to cause some serious damage and being surrounded by this many of them has got to be pretty unnerving!
A SeaWorld Orlando animal trainer was killed this afternoon during an accident at SeaWorld’s Shamu Stadium, park and law enforcement officials said.
Dawn Brancheau, a 40-year-old with extensive training experience, drowned following a popular Dine with Shamu show as at least two dozen tourists looked on from above a whale tank and from an underwater viewing area.
SeaWorld executive Chuck Tompkins confirmed what witnesses saw, that Brancheau was pulled into the water by Tilikum, a 12,000-pound male killer whale.
Brancheau was finishing up a session with Tilikum, the largest whale in SeaWorld’s collection and its only mature male, following a Dine with Shamu show.
Well in the real world, Shamu dines on you. I’m sorry, but I have no sympathy for this kind of stuff. When I was younger I wanted to be a marine biologist, and even then I knew it was wrong to keep whales and dolphins in captivity. It’s a killer whale, even if you feed it everyday- and it never hungers- it’s nature is to hunt and kill.
