Marlin Feeding

There’s nothing quite like seeing large fish feeding, especially from underwater. I’ve seen plenty tarpon and jacks feed while snorkeling, but never been lucky enough to see a marlin in the wild.

Old School Tuna Fishing

This old footage of tuna fishing in the 1940s in incredible. It must have been great to be a fisherman back in those days before overfishing killed off the majority of big fish in our oceans. Anyone got a time machine I can borrow?

Be sure to check out the second part of this clip on Youtube, they are both amazing.

Free-dive Spearfishing

There are a tons of fishing techniques out there, but free-dive fishing is pretty insane. These guys can hold there breath for an incredibly long time, which is good, because when a big ole tuna is dragging you around underwater, you really have no choice.

The Fastest Fish in the World

If you are a freshwater fisherman, you are probably familiar with bass, muskie and trout and their quick bursts of speed and power. However, none of these fish are anywhere close to the fastest fish in the world. The real king of speed, found in saltwater, is the sailfish. Its speed has been measured in excess of 110 km/h (68 mph) over short periods. The marlin and tuna, often considered among the greatest sport fish are miles behind, reaching top speeds of 80 and 74 kph respectively. The fastest fish I have ever caught is the tarpon, which reaches a top speed of 56 kph. You can see a list of the top 10 fastest fish on The Travel Almanac.

Fishing Fury 2005 - La Paz, Mexico

Thats right, I’ve finally finished our video compilation from 2005 when we were living and fishing in La Paz, Mexico. I had a limited ammount of footage to work with, due to the pressures of wanting to fish over wanting to film, but we captured some of the greatest moments in Fishing Fury history and I think that this will be the best video thus far. I really wanted this video to feel like our first trip to Cerralvo Island and, at least in my mind, it does. Anyway, I hope you enjoy it and please let us know what you think.

More Awesome Fishing Videos

I’ll probably hold off on posting more videos for the next few days, the page seems to be getting cluttered with nothing but videos and I want to put the final polish on the video I have prepared from our 2005 footage in Mexico. I also have a ton of little clips and outtakes that should be hilarious to watch. Unfortunately it doesn’t look like there will be a 2006 video, Clive and I were both off doing our own thing and while it’s hard to put down your rod and film your partner, it’s even harder to film yourself. The good news is that we are planning to head back to Little Vermillion this spring and I have some great surprises along the way.

While you’ll still have to wait for the official Fishing Fury Mexico video you can find us in David Jones’ great Fishermen’s Fleet video.

And if you’re still feeling nostalgic of 2004 from the previous videos you can check out Clive’s video.
