Bird Vs. Fish Vs. Snake
In either case, I’m pretty sure the fish looses this round.

I was really expecting the bird to be dinner. Oh well.
My aunt used to have a small pond in her back yard full of goldfish. One day she noticed that some fish were missing. As time went on, more and more fish disappeared. She figured it was birds, or the neighbors cat eating them, but never caught either of them in the act. One day, I went into the backyard and saw a big ole frog sitting on a lily pad with a bright orange tail sticking out of its mouth.
People always think of frogs and insect eaters, but these photos tell a much different story…

Ok, first of all it’s not actually a fish it’s a Salamander and they’re called Axolotls (pronounced ACK-suh-LAH-tuhl). These guys wear their gills on the outside and are able to regenerate most body parts should they become damaged or severed.
One problem is with non-native fish species like the Asian Carp and the African Tilapia that eat young Axolotls. They haven’t evolved in the same environment, so they don’t have good defense mechanisms against them.
The other big issue is habitat destruction. Lakes have been drained, and wastewater from Mexico City pollute waterways. This will not be easy to fix, but something will have to be done because these species that are threatened are just the canary in the coal mine. Bigger problems are on the horizon.
Scientists have yet to agree on a method to save these creatures, but a sanctuary is expected to open in the next few months in the waters around the Isla de las Muñecas (Island of the Dolls), apparently named such because “the owner hangs dolls he finds in the canals to ward off evil spirits.” I’m not even kidding, check out these photos of the Isla de las Muñecas.
You can get Axolotls as pets, but taking care of them doesn’t seem to be very easy. I wouldn’t recommend buying one for your teenage daughter as a replacement for her NeoPet that’s for sure!
I’m inclined to say this is a bear, but it sure looks like a werewolf! What do you think it is?

I made sure to reduce my hours at my second job this month so I could enjoy the last bit of good weather with the family before the winter hits. I spent way too much time working in the last month and missed out on some great fishing as a result.
We drove across the province last weekend to go to Nova Scotia’s largest zoo. I had planned to get some striped bass fishing in, but forgot my fshing rod at home. Oaklawn Farm Zoo is home and birthplace of the largest lion in captivity, Rutledge, who weighs over 800 pounds! While this zoo is quite small, compared to my favorite zoo, Toronto Zoo, it’s prefect for young children and has plenty to see in a small area. It only costs $6.50 per adult, and children under 3 are free to enter!
Lake Pymatuning, in Linesville Pennsylvania, is home to thousands of carp. So many in fact, that the ducks have to walk across them.
This unusual attraction is host to several hundred thousand visitors a year. The visitors love throwing bread to the waiting carp, and before long the ducks head over to get in on the action. Although attempts have been made to prohibit the use of bread, the bizarre tradition continues.
More info at Roadside Attraction.

Woody (2 days, 19 hours ago)That's the trouble right there, the finish on these Lures!...I started buying Rapala jointed and when i had a couple i just had to buy them in all the different finishes (Hot Perch, Perch, Walleye etc etc), i had so many in the end it was like i was collecting them to put in a glass case or something, i didn't dare use them, a Pike won't care if your Lure cost 5 quid or 30 quid, it's still gonna scratch all that fancy artwork/paintwork either way!...I sold all mine as a set on ebay in the end as i [...]

Re: Stormy Kromer Hat Contest!
Jason Wilson (2 months, 2 weeks ago)I'm not much for a pithy comment, but I thought I'd leave a note about how honored I be to wear Kromer on my upcoming annual pheasant hunting trip to South Dakota. I'm sure that my hunting buddies will joke about how silly I look while they wear their stylized broad brim hunting caps, but I'll be laughing on the inside as my head stays nice and warm. I'll be laughing al the more when the stiff South Dakota wind picks up and Kromer is staying put. Finally, with the fall bite on, I know my new Kromer will call the [...]
