This expertly filmed video out of Sweden has really got me itchin’ to do some fishin’. We’ve had a bit of a warming trend the last few days so I hope to get out before the temperature drops again. Remember just because a river is small doesn’t mean the fish are! Me and Martin went out to see if we could find some nice trout streams in the neighbourhood. We found a promising river and asked the landowner if we could give it a try. He said “yes, but I don’t think you’ll catch anything. I haven’t seen any fish and nobody ever comes here to fish”. Well, look what we found…

TreeHotel has designed some of the coolest outdoor structures I’ve seen in a while and The Mirrorcube is beautifully invisible. I’d love to stay in one of these places. The tree hotel concept meets the increasing interest in wild life-/eco tourism where one may encounter and experience the pristine nature of Sweden. The cube provides living space for two people: a double bed, a small kitchenette and bath, a living room and roof terrace. Access to the cabin is by a rope bridge connected to the next tree. To prevent birds colliding with the tree hotel, a transparent ultraviolet colour, visible for birds only, will be laminated into the glass panes. Check out The Brids Nest too! And if you liked this you might also like shipping container homes. TreeHotel via Gizmodo.

Earlier today an Oarfish was found on the shores of a small fishing village on Sweden’s western coast, and according to a maritime museum this is the first such fish found in Scandinavia in over 130 years. The dead specimen was frozen at the museum for study, and might even be added to a planned exhibit on sea monsters later this year. ‘Down at the water, there was something big floating. At first we thought it was a big piece of plastic. But then we saw an eye. I went down to check and saw that it was this extremely strange fish,’ Kurt Ove Eriksson, the passer-by who found the specimen, told daily Svenska Dagbladet. via Straits Times
