I live on the east coast of Canada in Halifax, Nova Scotia, located right on the Atlantic ocean. It’s not a big city, but as recently as this summer it was dumping raw sewage into the harbor. Granted, there was a problem at the sewage plant, but the plant was only opened fairly recently. It’s alarming that in this day and age waste is being dumped into oceans, rives and lakes untreated. While the harbor here looks clean, I for one wouldnt want to swim in it, and I’m sure they fish that do aren’t terrible healthy.
As cities have grown rapidly across the nation, many have neglected infrastructure projects and paved over green spaces that once absorbed rainwater. That has contributed to sewage backups into more than 400,000 basements and spills into thousands of streets, according to data collected by state and federal officials.
Another record fish has passed away. This time Britain’s biggest common carp, known as Benson, has died. Nobody knows how just how the 64lb 2oz (29kg) carp died and we may never know. It is believed that in her 25 years of life, she was caught more than 60 times.
Although Monty Python originally aired well before I was born, through the magic of VHS I was able to watch Flying Circus as a young lad. And now, thanks to something called the internet, we can all watch Monty Python’s fish slapping shenanigans!
Well the first day of spring has come and gone. You’d never guess it though if you lived on the east coast of Canada as I do. We had several inches of snow last night and it feel more like January! Fortunately, tomorrow is April 1st, which means fishing season is open! I’ll be heading out for some trout during my lunch break, and if all goes well you’ll see some photos tomorrow. In the unlikely event that I get skunked, you can always check out our forums for other fishing reports around the globe…
Here are a couple photos from the latest spring fishing reports!

Its not always easy to catch a fish. I’m sure we’ve all had days when they aren’t biting. Some people give up, some people change locations, some people change tactics, and others…others leave notes.
About a week ago I took a trip up to Springwood Cottages with a few friends. We planned this trip perfectly for the opening of bass season here in Ontario and wanted to visit a lake that wouldn’t see much boat traffic. Opening season on some lakes near Toronto can be brutal in terms of [...]
