For those of you who read our World’s Smallest Gamefish article and wanted to learn more about catching small fish, heres a video with Matt Hayes and Mick Brown chasing the elusive stickleback. This video is just a small part of their Great Rod Race series where they try to catch every species of freshwater fish in the UK. I highly recommend the series, even if you live outside the UK. If I weren’t such a law abiding citizen, I’d tell you where to download it, but even if you aren’t a downloader, its definitely worth the purchase.

Its rare that I’m introduced to a new TV show that really makes me laugh. Its even more rare to be introduced to an old show that really makes me laugh. Enter The Mighty Boosh, a show that originally aired from 2004-2007 on BBC Three. I watched it for the first time last night and was in hysterics. Its really unlike any other show I’ve seen, although it does feel a little bit like the Flight of the Concords at times. Here just a little taste of the sheer insanity of the show.

I cant wait for this release, slated for June 1st on a Blu-Ray 4 disc set. David Attenborough is the narrator for the UK release, and in a mind boggling decision from the BBC, Oprah for the American release. Now, I have no issue with Oprah, but Attenborough is the best of the best – I for one will be willing to pay the extra cash to get a hold of the the UK release.

I live on the east coast of Canada in Halifax, Nova Scotia, located right on the Atlantic ocean. It’s not a big city, but as recently as this summer it was dumping raw sewage into the harbor. Granted, there was a problem at the sewage plant, but the plant was only opened fairly recently. It’s alarming that in this day and age waste is being dumped into oceans, rives and lakes untreated. While the harbor here looks clean, I for one wouldnt want to swim in it, and I’m sure they fish that do aren’t terrible healthy.

As cities have grown rapidly across the nation, many have neglected infrastructure projects and paved over green spaces that once absorbed rainwater. That has contributed to sewage backups into more than 400,000 basements and spills into thousands of streets, according to data collected by state and federal officials.

On the bright side, at least I’m not this guy…

Goodbye Benson

Another record fish has passed away. This time Britain’s biggest common carp, known as Benson, has died. Nobody knows how just how the 64lb 2oz (29kg) carp died and we may never know. It is believed that in her 25 years of life, she was caught more than 60 times.
