Hey, I thought I would ask this question here as I suspect someone has dealt with this before.

I am currently keeping my boat at the island but this is a pain as it is difficult to get the trailer over if I want to take the boat anywhere, including for service!

The problem is I live in a condo downtown and don't have a garage to keep it in. What I am hoping to do is to find storage somewhere (preferably covered and locked) where I can store a 16' boat on a trailer with a swing tongue somewhere near downtown and close to the highway.

If anyone has any suggestions on a place to do this I would really appreciate it.

Cheers,
Ed

It's not indoor or even covered, but you can store boats in the Outer Harbour Marina, which is at the start of the Leslie Spit and at least close to you. There's just not a lot of indoor boat storage in the West end of Lake Ontario. Eastern Marine (12 Leslie St.) offers indoor heated storage at about $11 per square foot. The only other ones that I'm aware of are in Port Credit (not heated), St.Catharines, Hamilton and one in Pickering or Oshawa.

There was a guy offering indoor storage in the East end of Toronto somewhere last year, but haven't seen him advertising yet, but he did on craigslist under Boats and Toronto.

Hope it works out for you.

Thanks Richard,
That's very helpful. I'll look at those options.

I believe some storage facilities like USTORE, Self Storage, etc. have some garage like ground level units that you could use. A friend of mine use to store cars in them over the winter or when he wasnt working on them. Not sure whats the closest or most accessible units for you, but there are tons around the city.

I was faced with a similar problem when I lived in the city.. here's what I found.

Storage in Toronto will be expensive. I recall I was quoted $70/month to rent a parking space outside in one of those self-storage places -- OUTSIDE. Your cheapest option will be to find someone with a barn/field just outside of town. If you must, put up one of those car shelters from Crappy Tire. I did that for two seasons outside of Barrie (I mostly fish along the 400 corridor to Sudbury, so that location made sense)

Good luck.. I've since moved out of town and have no space issues anymore. :)

I store my rig @ secure self storage on dundas by the 427 during summer months. 24 hour access so you can grab your rig and be on your way.

In the winter I take it to a friends barn , throw some moth balls in , make sure nothing will be making a home in my skeeter...

My outdoor storage is uncovered though but heavily guarded and super clean. To me 24 hour access was extremely important
