Lake Onaping Walleye Adventure

This coming weekend (may 28) the old man, my brother and I are heading on a week long fishing adventure up to lake Onaping near Sudbury. We're all pretty stoked although I'm sure the bugs are going to be pretty hungry.

We'll primarily be there for walleye and pike. I've heard they do a stocking program for lake trout as well. I wouldn't mind getting into one of those babies.

Has anyone fished this lake? Any advice on spring walleye? I've caught them mostly in summer and fall using bottom bouncers and worm harnesses, but I've been told that long lining 7" long rapalas at night is the S*&T!

No idea about the lake you are going to, but have fished walleye most of my life. A jig and tail is still the best bet for this time of year, finding reefs or rocky drop offs are always good spots. Night fishing is great, we use husky jerks,long A bombers, and smithwicks - work the shallows where the walleye are feeding heavy at night chasing bait fish.
