I am about to move up to Yellowknife, NWT for awhile. Fishing is a little different up there so I gave up my coosa kayakhttp://static.jacksonkayak.com/cf/seanbrodie/2011/02/102_0638.jpg for an Ultimate 12. http://smallwater.files.wordpress.com/2008/11/picture-001.jpgMine is red. I hate red but I will deal with it the rest of the summer for the pros the boat offers. It already had full skirts so its not that bad with waves and rain. It has the ability to downrig with my setup of downriggers to the scotty gimble mounts. So I can target big lakers which was my biggest concern with the trade. The ultimate is a hybrid canoe, kayak or Yakanoo. I have only paddled one once previous to this and enjoyed its stability and speed. I plan on fishing a lot of deep lake trout up until snowfall on some pretty big water bodies up near Yellowknife. There are a bunch of little lakes with easy access to bigger pike but I really want to get a hog laker off the kayak. Once I get this bad boy fully rigged with my camera gear and rod holders I will throw some pics up. Hope guys are getting out fishing on here and I hope to soon see some kayak anglers pop up :)

Wow, that is a very nice kayak! Why are you moving up to NWT? Are you working up there or just vacationing? If you're coming through Toronto come say hi

The Ultimates arent that much and have a good resale value. They are hybrid kayak canoes. there are a variety of models to choose from. The ultimate tegris is really light and durable. have a look. http://www.nativewatercraft.com/boat.cfm?id=4 sweet deal for 36 lbs. I know a couple guys with them. They also make one of the only peddledrive kayaks that has a reversing peddle. This model is super fast and a it more durable than the traditional Hobiecat mirage drive. http://www.nativewatercraft.com/boat.cfm?id=19
Heading up there for work and for a while this time I hope :) The transient thing is tough. Im getting old :)

Im not going down south this time through though. Its about 9 days drive and I plan on hitting a couple lakes along the way if the weather is decent. 9 more days :) The lake trout are going to be on the deep bite for another little while so I'm stoked!

Awesome fishing machine! I'm selling my old crapyp kayak, not sure I can afford one of these, but maybe we can find a sponsor to loan us one ;)

I could use a truck sponsor too. Toyota, if you're listening, Ill gladly accept any 98-02 4-runner with any amount of miles
