early mornings producing good fishing
Just a heads up, if you are able to get out early mornings, the fishing is kick ass right now!
I have been getting down to the waterfront around 5:30 am since I got back this week and fishing before getting into work at 8:30 am (work is also downtown). Fishing has been nothing short of spectacular with all the usual harbourfront species active at first light .
Bonus.....I even located a group of crappie this morning! So get up, get out, FISH! . You can sleep when you're dead!My fishing blog - www.fishontoronto.com

So you're telling me you've got a Crappie morning? excellent!!

Speaking of which, when you say usual species, you mean carp, pike and panfish? Bass is still another 2 weeks away...
Also, where would one found a box of worms in downtown Toronto? Or I guess lures are the only way to go...mmMMmmm... bet that fish tastes good!

That's good to know, maybe I'll get up early and hit the harbourfront before work. Weather has been crazy hot too

Yes usual suspects, Perch, panfish, harbour pike, etc. I was surprised to see the Crappies though. I did see a bunch of smallies too but managed to avoid landing more than one by moving on to deeper water.
you can get worms downtown at Westmarine at Leslie and Lakeshore, across the street from Loblaws.
* I wasn't using worms, I was doing ok on plastic micro lures dipped in cod liver oil, then switched to small cranks for the deeper harbour water.Last edited by MikeH; 06-20-2012 at 12:40 PM.

I went down to the lakeshore this evening. Went to the West Marine shop, but they don't sell fresh bait anymore
seems like it's impossible to get live worms in DT toronto unless you catch your own in a park!!
Decided to try fishing the Sugar Beach near the shop. Beautiful little beach park, but lots of garbage and small oil stains in the harbour. Tried using some small hairpin spinners and plastic tube, and found a small school of panfish or baitfish chasing these lures, but nothing else. Maybe morning > evening?? or Im just not fishing in the right place... Maybe i should be fishing more to the west.mmMMmmm... bet that fish tastes good!
