Re: What type of camera do you take fishing with you?
There's no replacing the G5 mate!
We've got more cameras then we know what to do with already!
Canon G5, Canon S2, Canon sw790, Canon Rebel XS, Canon GL1 (Video), Flip Ultra (video, with underwater) not to mention the old cell phone camera!
My next fishing camera will be small and waterproof for sure. The G10 is a solid camera, but we're into the DSLRs now, theres no going back! (unless its a pocket camera of course)

Re: What type of camera do you take fishing with you?
Agreed. I need an all around tough balls camera. Unfortunately Canon doesn't make one right now so I'm looking at the olympus series, too bad the camera is a bit of an eye sore.
I have a Nikon D70, but I need a new battery charger and a real lens.Yes, Ed F took my avatar photo.

Re: What type of camera do you take fishing with you?
Well, I'm in the market for a new one now. I'll do a little research & see what I can afford.
Before I do that, does anyone mind telling me what I should expect for say, $250?
I need a good zoom, with a stabilizer, & something that takes videos, maybe 10 minutes tops. Anything come to anybody's minds that I should look at first?
I'm not worried about megapixels, as my current digicam takes great shots, & it's only 3.2. My bro just picked up a Canon whatchmacallit for $210 + & it's pretty sweet. It's 8.0 mp, got a big screen, & better video quality than my Sony.

As said already above in my post...I can't fault the Canon Digital Elph, very small camera, huge screen, video with sound, fantastic looking pics, you can't knock 'em for the price tag!

Re: What type of camera do you take fishing with you?
I picked up the Canon Elph above for 149 at Futureshop - it has 10mp and a 3 inch screen. Its really nice , but much zoom on it though. There are a ton of option for the $250 price range.
There are 4 solid looking cameras that can even shoot video and stills UNDERWATER that you want to consider - although they are a bit over $250. These would be my first choices as a fishing camera since they are shock proof, waterproof, and cold proof.

Your cheapest option is probably to find them on ebay.
And http://www.dpreview.com/ is you best site for camera reviews.

Yeah and while your at it, you could get one of those pink Barbie Rod's to go with it and then see if you dare send any more pictures in when you're next Ice Fishing, oh the shame, the shame!

I'm happy to say that I have seen more fish around this spring than ever before. I wish I could say I've been catching more, but I cant! My son, girlfriend and I visited Toronto Islands for pike...
