Snapped this photo back when I bought a second Quantum PT Tour combo. I'll see if I can get photos in the boxes another time.

    Very nice...

What do you think of those new baits in the packages with the liquid? (Trigger?)

I can't for the life of me remember the name....but I see you have them.

    Cheers

Yes, they're called Trigger-X and they're made by Rapala. Personally I really like them, I got a decent sample of them to try and I found them to work just as well as the gulp baits, and they store much better. I've had a few gulp packages go rancid on me because the ziploc seal was slightly open. Next year I want to do a more in depth comparison of the two.

    Re: tackle porn....

I've looked at them but thought the packaging wasn't too great and was a concern.

This may be a stupid question but.....

What do you do with the bait once you remove it from the package? Can it be repackaged in the existing liquid?

I find the containers that the gulp come in frustrating too...I've had a complete pail dump out on my g/f purse in the boat, after hitting a wave and turing over. They don't seal very well.

I've heard of people using other containers, putting a piece of wrap inside etc. but I have an issue with paying an outrageous amount of money for a bait, that you have to "baby" or remove and repackage yourself. I'd have to think the $20 I'm paying, some of that is for packaging that IMO, is inadequate.

    Geeze...sorry, I just realized I'm ranting!

....I'm having a tough day at work!

    Cheers

    Re: tackle porn....

Here's my arsenal, first one is my spinning setup - Abu Garcia Cardinal GoldMax63 with a Berkley Roughneck 6'6" Med action spinning rod. This was my very first rod and reel that I purchased with my OWN money about 15years ago at the Toronto Sportsmen Show. I haven't cleaned, lubed or greased this reel its entire life, I have dragged it through dirt, sand, salt, snow and its even been to the bottom of my lake twice. I have abused this reel pretty bad in its life, thrown it around on the dock, ran over the rod with my car, slammed it against the boat(alot)! The trigger bail is loosey goosey, the auto close bail doesn't work anymore and it reminds me every time I forget to manually close the bail by busting my knuckles when I start the retrieve, which usually leads to some cursing and the eventual slamming of it against the boat hull. Surprisingly enough it still works great, the drag works just as well as it did the first day I used it, I guess it is true what they say about Abu products - TOUGH!

Next my baitcasting setup, Abu Garcia Ambassadeur 5500-C3 2-Speed(6.1:1/3.8:1) - very very rare, mounted on a Berkley FireFlex, 6'6" Med casting rod. This was my second rod and reel I purchased with my own money the following year again at the Toronto Sportsmen Show about 14 years ago. This one doesnt see too much action, usually only spring and fall for pike and musky up at the cottage or if Im pitching jig and pigs in the lily pads or trolling for Pickerel in the deep. This one gets babied, never abused, I've replaced the bearings with full ceramic ball bearings, carbon fiber drag discs and I lube and grease this one seasonally.

    Hey Danny,

I have that exact same AG reel...I bought it so long ago, I don't quite remember and it's still working in great shape. I bought it from Cabellas catalogue and remember it was unique back then, offering 5 bearings; I think it's 5. :scratch_ones_head:

I think I still have the spare spool that came with it too.

    Cheers,

    Paul

    Re: tackle porn....

Yup 5 ball bearings and I still have the plastic spare spool that it came with as well - some where....

Just to mention I love the 2-speed baitcast reel - its like having 2 reels in one, I can fish the bait slow and switch up the gearing when I hook a fish and pull him out of cover fast or use a fast retrieve with the lower gearing without cranking on the handle like a mad man and when I hook into a big fish I can switch to the taller gearing and finesse him into the boat.
Ironically doing a quick search on ebay revealed one that has just been listed with a low starting price.

Gotta love the old Abu Cardinals, my stepdad had one of the old green and white ones and it was an excellent reel.
