Toronto Islands, 2011
Hope this isn't to early, but couldn't resist....has anyone been lately? maybe it's frozen over, I have no idea, but I think I read that some members fish in March over there.

Yea it's still early, maybe by the end of the month if we're lucky. I haven't looked at the season opener, but i think it closes for april (spawn) if I'm not mistaken. I can't wait to get out there. We should have a get together, bbq some steaks or something. Who's with me?

Re: Toronto Islands, 2011
I've been scheming a pike blitz on the lakeshore before the season closes on March 31. Sometime over the last 2 weeks of March I'm planning on covering the marinas and shallows between the Humber and Ontario place. Any suggestions of lure choice this time of year?
Bbqs are awesome!

KokeMachine, I'd like to join you on that trip I think! I've got the perfect lure :diablo:

Just kidding, though I'd love to throw "the rodent" I think Clive's got it. This is my go to lure for pike right now.

Is that the Glidin' Rapp? I have yet to purchase one of those babies. I'll have to add it to my list.
HA, I bet these city fish have probably seen a lot of rodents in the water, so I bet that rat/mouse would be a sweet lure to try.
Last year I think I saw the most amount of people (3) I've ever seen fishing down on the lake shore the week before the closer. All going for pike. Unfortunately, I didn't bring my rod that day.
Yeah, if you want to join me on that adventure that would be awesome! I'll let you know what the plans are when I get back from Cuba.

Re: Toronto Islands, 2011
Last year, I went for pre-closure pike. I sugget that in terms of lure, those glidin' raps or big husky jerks are the way to go. Just throw it in the water, rip them a few times, and let it /sit/. Also, scented flukes and those soft baits work real well if you half-treat them like deadbait. Too bad I wont be in Toronto for pike this year~
mmMMmmm... bet that fish tastes good!
