    Re: The Steelhead Report

On Sunday Dave and a few of his friends Eric, Julian, Garret (I apologize if I got your names wrong), and myself hit the water in Coburg in search of steelhead. As you can see from the above post Dave locked into the very first steelhead of the day. It was a little camera shy at first, but marked the start to a great day.

    Re: The Steelhead Report

Not long after Eric hooked in to a very green rainbow, and then another later in the evening. I was really getting a good tutorial on how steelhead fishing works in a line with these guys, chances looked really good that today would be my day. My casting has improved quite a bit, though I had some serious setbacks, lots of tangles and my line even snapped several yards up from my float on what looked like a great hit.

    Re: The Steelhead Report

It was pretty late in the day, but I finally hooked into and landed my first rainbow. It wasn't an epic battle, or even a trophy fish. But it was still nice to have caught something, and it made for a nice photo of an immature smolt. & I learned about parr marks, the short black bands along the body.

Oh, and all fish were live released, except for one perfect filet sized silver male. Someone had a good dinner I'm sure! If you took a photo of your meal I'd love to see it.

    Re: The Steelhead Report

OH! Before I forget, I did take some video and will be posting something hopefully tomorrow evening. I don't have any time left to finish it tonight as I've got to get to bed and to work in the morning. I'd also like to say that it was great to meet everyone that I fished with and hope to do it again soon. If you want the photos and videos from that evening email me (jwm@fishingfury.com) and I can send you the files.
