    Dunnville catfish let down

So the lads and I buckled up and took a trip down to Dunnville to take on the infamous channel cats that allegedly flood the Grand river in the spring. We spent a significant amount of time preparing our baits for the trip which if you know anything about catfish bait then you know it's a pretty rancid game. So we spent Friday and Saturday messing around with this nasty stuff only to find ourselves bite-less. I would have been mildly satisfied if a fish had even stolen my bait, but nothing...

We did find the catfish motif around town to be pretty amusing.

A temporary setback due largely to inclement weather keeping our bait in hard to find locales. We will go back and we will land a true general Sherman.

Hahah good report, even if you didn't catch anything! The picture with the huge catfish is awesome too!

Man, that stuff does look pretty nasty. Does it really work better than fresh cut bait (I've never fished for channel cats)?

That slop in the bag is actually the fresh cut seasoned sucker meat that we bought from fishmaster's store down in Dunnville. Our own baits were so nasty to look at that if I was to show you a picture you might lose your biscuits. Some of the lads made a hilarious bait video as a contribution to 4 eel fishing that I should post. I made my own cut and seasoned sucker bait that I let sit in the sun. Jewitts made some kind of goo dough. I'm sure he'll tell you the details.

We're all very fresh to catfishing, save bullhead fishing. But we're on a quest! I've heard the Trent has some big cats, as well as the Notty. We'll have to see where the catfish quest leads us next.

It's seasoned with brown sugar and salt. Seasoned for catfish consumption only!!
