New PR largemouth
I haven't been doing too great fish-wise lately, so I was out this evening on my friend's smallish pond by myself, in his canoe, looking to break my slump. I had a shaky head/7" worm combo tied on (the only thing that's been getting me bites these past few weeks), but decided to take a gamble and throw on my little Rapala Skitter-Pop. Took two casts and hooked up on both. One little bass and one really big pumpkinseed, but both spit the hook. About ten minutes later, I threw it out to the edge of some pads, and I got a near-instantaneous absolutely explosive reaction. I fought it for a bit but I was eventually able to bring in this guy: (sorry about the quality and angle, I was alone and had only my phone)
For reference, that fish is laying flat next to my foot, and I wear a size 10.5-11 shoe here in the US. This lunker was also a real fatty, and was definitely my heaviest landed fish. I don't have a scale, so I don't know the exact weight, but I know for certain that it was between 21 and 22 inches, and according the American Fisheries Association, that puts the average weight of an average 21-22" LMB in an average body of water at 5lbs 6oz - 6lbs 4ozLast edited by ctom1; 07-30-2011 at 09:35 PM.

Very nice bass! and the best fishing trip stories are always when your the only one on the boat, struggling to take a picture of it with your phone
