Humber River Salmon
Alright boys, it's that time of year again. I'm planning on keeping a running report of my trips to the Humber. I've been going a few times a week for the past few weeks to the mouth of the river. On august 19th, I checked it out at 6am. Lots of fish jumping, but as the light came up it was revealed that most of them were giant carp and a few salmon further out. August 26 in the evening I had a massive strike. The fish jumped 5 feet in the air and threw the spoon...Damn. It was a lighter coloured fish than I was expecting as they tend to darken when they go to the river to spawn. I think this fish was a fluke, maybe an eager beaver there long before the rest. On September first I went out on the canoe all around the bay. There were a few fish jumping but the action seemed pretty quiet.
I'm planning on getting out every morning at 6ish throughout September to try to make sure I'm there when they finally show up all rowdy.
Anyone else playing the salmon game this year?

Man, I'd love to see the salmon game going down out east, but my brother is coming down to take me and my future brother-in laws out around the mouth of the credit on his boat. But if you do happen to end up at the the Humber or the Credit on Saturday I'm sure I could meet you guys before that goes down.
@bettercallsaul
I'll probably see you down there some time I'm sure. I'm planning on going as often as I can.

It brings a tear to the eye to think of the number of amazing fisheries destroyed by damming!
************
This past Friday I managed to get out with a friend in my canoe. We trolled all around Humber bay with no luck. We did see some other fishermen in a small row boat land a salmon at about 10:30 AM. They were maybe 400 yards out from the pier. We had to leave the bay as the waves were getting a little intense so we headed up river. There we came across a few other fishermen who were doing fairly well fishing the deeper holes of the river casting spoons and crank baits from boats. We saw a couple of real monsters jump outside of the Humber Marshes park. As the evening came in we headed back out to the bay where the waves had calmed down. Still no fish.
Saturday, we my brother and a few other guys went out of the Credit river on a fishing boat. Within 10 minutes one of our crew had a feisty salmon on a spoon but lost it within 5 minutes. It broke the line! The rest of the day was quiet.
I went out to the Humber mouth again on Monday at 6am. Only a few fish jumping. No action.
