longweekend carp fishing toronto
friday we moved our new canoe down to its new home a slip at rees street....between police station and fire station...
ban me from fishing from the shore there....now i fish in the canoe two feet from the shore...fuck you harbourfront security and police marine unit....
saturday we took the canoe out to explore the areas of the islands we do not often get to fish.....
saw two pike in pike cut
saw pike, carp and bass the otherside of donut island
saw pike and bowfin in small pond off of hanlans channel across from the harbour master building
pond by the filtration plant near school had carp,bowfin,orange/white koi.
spent the day exploring and adapting to fishing from a canoe.
sunday fished late in the night along harbourfront in a park....lost a couple carp landed one 14 lb
monday fished the outer harbour....lost a couple carp...
fished the spit only to watch 100's of carp spawning and out of reach in a new bird sanctuary
lots of new bird areas...the best place to catch carp last year is carpless this year due to modifications of shorelines
they closed off the main bays on the west side of the spit....
found lots of smaller carp in the empoundments...seemed too busy spawning...middle of the day too
on the way home i fished harbourfront....lost a couple big ones....drunk homeless guy interfered with me on a couple of others...he wanted to fish whenever he saw me with a fish on he would run up stand in the way and try to grab the rod.
i landed a 27lb carp even with this added challenge....
it was a hot....overcrowded weekend...but made the best of it....

I know where you carp fish
It's okay...I won't be telling...but you may see me there.
Nice fish! That's a nice carp.
Did you try for the bowfin from the canoe?

i use canned corn...simple but effective...i simplify setting the hook by using circle hooks which 7opercent of the time set themselves.
we had a 32 inch bowfin on from the canoe and lost her....we had two females swim up to the canoe ...but i was certainly struggling...
we went up to massasauga park first week in may...i would canoe to a spot and fish from shore....i doubled the catch of the other 6 guys fishing...
in fact i was told i wasn't allowed to fish anymore until they caught some fish...so i started sight guiding for them....but for some reason i have yet to figure out completely...i struggle to catch from boats ...i believe its a balance thing...i struggle with coordination.
i would have fished from shore when at the islands but most areas we were exploring were infested with the red ants...i am not too fond of red ants...i got about 17 bites over the weekend...i was being careful about the ants too.
muskiebait...it does not ever matter if you guys know where i fish....you still gotta out smart the fish...your not competing with me...its between you and the fish....besides i always am open to transparency with fishing...how else will we get better....and conditions and timing are always changing.....
secret fishing holes or good spots are one tenth an ingredient in the chemistry of fishing...and by the way muskiebait your one hell of a better fisherman
than i will ever be....its you that has secret techniques etc.....and yes you have been kind enough to share some on this very forum.
thanks....and yes i hope to see you in my travels...i enjoy fishing with you.peace

Awesome report!
Boat traffic at the islands is off the chart already on weekends. I've had to switch to fishing week nights and weekends 6-9pm, and its not even June!My fishing blog - www.fishontoronto.com
