Last weekend marked the opening of trout season here in Ontario, one of the wildest weekends you’ll have on the river guaranteed. It’s not uncommon to run into huge lines of fishermen or even people sleeping on the side of the river the night before just so they won’t miss first light. I wasn’t able to get out on the first night, which is disappointing because the fishing and weather were outstanding, but I made it out yesterday and managed to have a fantastic day on the upper part of the Oshawa Creek. Tiny beads and stoneflies were the most effective lures in the gin clear water.
