Otterbox is coming out with a new series of cases starting with the iPhone4. The Armour Series case as the name suggests wraps your device in a protective plastic fortress. The case is drop proof up to 20 feet, crush proof up to two tons, and can be submerged 10 feet underwater for up to 30 minutes. Otterbox is keeping most of the details to a minimum, even cancelling the twitter chat about it this evening, but still promising “to exceed all expectations and uphold the standards of the OtterBox brand with the Armor Series”.
The Otterbox definitely looks nice and I’m looking forward to seeing it. But there is some pretty tough competition out there with the LifeProof cases (MSRP $80) and the cheaper (though less featured) RainBallet case we reviewed earlier this year. We’ll have to wait a little big longer before we see them in stores though I’m hoping to get my hands on one and see how the Otterbox performs in terms of features, usability, and punishment.
