Well, it looks like those pesky birds are at it again. Now they’re not only attacking fish, but attacking fishermen too! If there’s one thing I’ve learned in my short life, its that you simply can’t trust birds.
When you think of the desert, bass fishing is probably the furthest thing from your mind, and yet here is a video of bass fishing in the desert! RA Beattie has put together this awesome short film featuring some stunning scenery and beautiful bass! I have no idea where this was filmed, but wherever it is, I’m adding to my list of places I want to fish!
There seems to a push for good looking fishing t-shirt and the folks over at Apex Predator have stepped up in a big way.
Ap3xPr3dator.com originated in Los Angeles, California as an offshoot of the So Cal Top Guns Fishing Team. After creating several traditional-styled shirts for the club with functionality being paramount (dark colors to hide the blood of the prey and lightweight longsleeve T’s for maximum UV protection while on the water), we were starting to be asked where to buy them.
Our original designs were created in the Southern California Saltwater Sportfishing tradition and make up the Top Guns line. We soon after added the Apex Predator line, a freshwater line with the same Top Guns durability and comfort. More recently, we introduced the Black Labels, our premier line designed to look great both on the water and off. In the near future we will be adding unique vintage “wash” styled shirts of the same quality used by Ed Hardy, Affliction, and others to this line, giving you both the best fishing designs and top quality shirts available anywhere!
I’ve been fishing 3-4 times a week for most of the season here in Nova Scotia. I’ve got plenty of fish, at least 50 bass by my count (they make you track that here on your license). Yet, after all of those bass, I haven’t caught one over a pound. My buddy Dominic from work, just got himself a new fishing rod a few weeks back and took me out to a lake he’s been fishing recently. Right away he catches a nice bass, and then another later that afternoon. Meanwhile I kept catching baby bass after baby bass. I even put on a bigger lure, and still got little fish. I’m gonna chalk it up to beginners luck, but he out fished me bad.
I offered to land this smallmouth for him since it’s been so long since I’ve handled a good size fish
Suddenly I heard the ZIP of the line and I watched as a small Dorado launched into the air. It was a beautiful sight but it didn’t last for long. Again the line went quiet. I started to feel a little sick to my stomach. The long swim and the heat out on the water started to get to me. At this point I’d begun to feel like we weren’t going to catch anything so I went into the cabin to have a short nap in the air conditioning. The gentle rock of the boat almost lulled me to sleep. From inside the cabin I heard that sound. ZIP!! I jumped off the bunk bed and ran outside. I waited for a second before getting my hopes up and then I saw the marlin jump into the air. It was an amazing rush!
