I was able to get out to the Halifax International Boat Show this weekend and really had a good time. I would have liked to see a fishing and boat show combination like most other cities have, but I guess the demand isn’t here yet. There were way more boats then I expected and my two year old son Ash absolutely loved every minute. He immediately hopped in the captains seat on every boat and started pressing buttons. I was surprised to see that most of the boats still had power (at all of the car shows I’ve been to, the batteries are disconnected) and Ash scarred more then a few people when he managed to find the horn of a big Striper 3301.
Overall there were only a handful of boats that really stood out to me, but my favorite boat was from the Triumph lineup (specifically the 1700 SKiff). Not only did their boats catch my attention, but they were moderately priced, tough as hell and my son loved them too! He laughed hysterically while watching their promo videos…

When I was younger we spent a lot of time in and near lakes, rivers and ponds. Were were allowed to swim and play as long as there were no lightning storms. It made sense, lightning is dangerous, but I had never actually seen anyone get hit by lightning on a lake until now. I came across these gruesome photos a little while back and was blown away. It’s a grim reminder of how important it is to get your boat off the water when the weather gets bad.
LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) – A lightning strike on a fishing boat killed one man
and injured another. State wildlife agents say Saturday’s strike on Old
Black Bayou near Lake Charles killed 44-year-old Joe Landry. He was
pronounced dead at the scene. His fishing partner – Richard Bergeron of Lake
Charles- was treated and released later Saturday from a hospital.
Investigators say the two were attempting to pick up anchor and retreat from
a small storm when lightning hit.
Not sure what happened here, but something went terribly terribly wrong. I mean, backing a boat in to the water can be a pain, but what was this guy thinking?
Both my mom and step-dad had a Ford Taurus when I was a teenager, but I never would have dreamed about putting a boat in the back, not even in the wagon. I’m fairly certain there is someone with a mullet in the back seat holding onto the boat with all his might.
If I ruled the world things would be different. For starters, every car would be an aquatic car. As awesome as this one of a kind creation is, it really misses the purpose of an aquatic car – it can’t drive on land! So the question that remains is this, can a crappy car make a good boat?
This puppy can be found on ebay and the current bid is $2,599.00 USD.
It’s been over 5 years since we last visited Mystery Lake and just as long since we’ve fished with our good friend Mike Westlake. Mike would definitely be considered a founding member of Fishing Fury, in our first year he joined us on many of our trips and witnessed us catch trophy fish in every [...]
