Steve Irwin would be proud to see this – the worlds largest crocodile caught alive in the Philippines. These huge crocodiles can be challenging to catch alive, but 100 mean teamed up to make sure this 21 foot croc was caught unharmed. The massive crocodile will become the main attraction at a new Eco-tourism park being built in Agusan.
At least 100 men were required to pull the huge reptile on to the banks of the creek where, after a great deal of difficulty, it was bound up and then lifted by crane on to the back of a truck. They weren’t going to let the victory pass without having their photo taken, so many of the villagers posed beside their scaly captive before it was driven off to a confined area.
I have seen plenty of crocodiles at the zoo, but never in the wild. If I ever come across one though, I’ll be keeping my distance. An Israeli fisherman learned the hard way to keep his distance from crocs when a massive 4 metre long crocodile took a lunge at him. He escaped with all his body parts intact, but promises he wont get so close during his next encounter with a croc. Sounds like a solid plan to me.
I was shocked – the animal clearly wanted to kill me…
My good friend Phil alerted me to this fantastic swordfish tattoo by artist Matt Adamson. It’s difficult to understand the placement of the tattoo from the photos below but it looks to me like the tops of the shoulders, as if the swordfish has gone through the neck. Matt is [...]

We haven’t done a caption contest in a while, mostly because it takes a very special picture or video to inspire us. Today we have a video so wild we couldn’t even describe it! Hopefully you’ll have better luck though. The best description of this video left in the comments [...]

My XTRATUF II boots have been the footwear of choice for winter fishing this year and they’ve been fantastic on every outing. I’m sad that they’ll be put away in the next few weeks as summer approaches, but I’m very happy knowing they’re ready and waiting for next winter. When [...]
