As some of you know, I was born in the British Virgin Islands. I haven’t lived there since I was a little boy, but I did enjoy a prolonged stay there in 2006. I still feel homesick whenever I think of the islands and maybe one day, my family and I can move back. For now, I resort to watching old videos we made while we were there a few years back. Lots of warm weather and lots of excellent fishing, it doesn’t get much better then that.
PS. If anyone needs an island fishing guide and has the cash to cover my expenses to get there, I’m all yours!
If you’ve ever been taken out fishing by a guide, you probably know that it’s good manners to tip your guide. It’s not however, good manners to throw a fish at your guides head.
One of our favorite contributors, Adam Guy, recently returned from a trip to Sri Lanka and sent over a couple of photos to share with our readers. We are not certain what type of fish they are, but if you do, please let us know.

I was just checking the website of our good friend David Jones and my attention was immediately caught by the following post!
WORLD RECORD SNAPPER APPROVED
Think back to June, and remember that one Roula Cornell captured a monstrous mullet snapper. You will of course also remember that it weighed in (on official certified scales) at 45.6 pounds, apparently eclipsing the current record of 36 pounds by a metric shit load. Well, as of September 6, 2007, our sources at the IGFA in Florida tell us that his record has been approved. Cornell, who has been saddled with the term “pending” ever sense has been released from this nether world and is now official, unique, and certifiable in his position atop all of the mullet snapper fishermen in the world. Although his life has been a world wind of paparazzi, nubile pursuers, and sycophantic followers since that fateful day, he has maintained his humble “everyman” approach to life and fishing. Here’s hoping that his hat size remains static, and that his world record stands for a long, long time. Congrats R.C.,
I’ve started getting fishing reports via the Fishing Fury MySpace page from some charters and guide services. This report is from SC Guide Services out of Northern California.
Klamath River – October 2nd, 2006
RECORDED: 75 ° FISHING: Excellent
On Monday, I fished my buddies Jim, Keith, and Matt and they landed 6 out of 12 Salmon. Five of the six Salmon weighed over 18 pounds, and 3 of those were over 20 pounds. Jim landed the hog of the day a nice big 25 pound buck. See the photo gallery for the pics. K-15 kwikfish and Roe were the baits of choice. I am fishing the section of river from the Hatchery to Fishhook it has been the most productive.

I really appreciate these guys, so if it’s easier for you to send via myspace, please do!
At Fishing Fury, we love shiny things as much as fish do - especially shiny reels. As odd as it may sound, it's not only important that our reels function well, but that they look great too. Beauty is definitely in the eye of the beholder when it comes to reels though. Personally I prefer the appearance of a round baitcast reel, where as Jon prefers low profile. One thing with both agree on though, is that if we had the money, we would have a serious collection of pimped out reels. Here’s a list of the reels we wish we had, but probably never will.
