Gearing Up For Muskie!

I’ll be heading south to the United states in two weeks. It’s a business trip, but I’ll be fishing every chance I get. I’ll be in New Jersey, about 40 minutes from New York, New York and I have a lot of fishing options. My goal is to catch a muskie though, so I just ordered a few new lures from a Eastern Esox. I fished for muskie with the co-owner in back in June and he turned me on to a couple of lures that I have wanted to buy ever since, and here they are!

Its been a couple of years since I’ve targeted muskie in the fall, but luckily I’ll be fishing with a guy who knows the area well. As our own Shop grows, you will definitely be seeing pike and muskie lures like these, so check back often!

Earlier we mentioned we had some big news coming up, well here it is! There was a time when Main Street shopkeepers had the trust of their community. Then big box retailers created enormous warehouses with every item under the sun which seemed wonderful, but destroyed the intimacy and experience consumers had with local merchants. Internet giants emerged and built efficient, but sterile destinations selling millions of items in endless online lists. Over time, the humanity and trust of shopping have been lost. Until Now.

Our goal is to bring you not only the best fishing products out there, but specifically the products we believe in, and hopefully at a competitive price. If we don’t trust and use a product, we don’t believe in selling that product – plain and simple. We will be starting with a decent catalog of products we know and trust, but as the store grows we hope to have bigger, better, and newer products all the time.

Together, we have spent the past five years fishing our guts out, and along the way we have put hundreds if not thousands of products to the test. Rapala has recently introduced a brand new freshwater lure they’ve dubbed the MaxRap. They designed it to maximize your casting distance with their patented internal MaxCast mechanism. It really is a beautiful looking lure and at 5.25 inches in length its a good size lure for multiple species. The lure retrieves at a depth of 1 to 2 feet and comes in 8 fancy colour patterns

There are a ton of new bass lures out this year and I hope to be reviewing a number of them when I return from this weekends trip to Kennebec Lake. The baits I’m most excited about this year are the new Trigger-X softbaits not only are they biodegradable, which is a huge selling point around here at Fishing Fury, but their are also individually packaged in some sweet species targeted pheromone juices. These are the first baits that I’m aware of that advertises the use of pheromones.
