Believe it or not this image is not from a costal city or island, it’s actually right in the middle of the United States. What you’re looking at is the Red River flooding over 60 miles of I29 North of Fargo. Manitoba is expecting the river to hit them within three weeks where they wait for the a massive wall of water to arrive.

The Red River crested on Saturday night to the fourth highest level in history, sending water into the area around the cities of Fargo, North Dakota and its neighbor Moorhead, Minnesota. Because of the extreme flatness of this valley area, the water traveled mostly unimpeded at a slow, shallow rate across the empty plains.
Approximately 60 miles of roads were closed in the county and another ten miles were washed over, including Interstate 29 as seen in the video. Unlike other flooding situations where driving across the water is extremely dangerous, the water’s mostly still and therefore presents a lower risk as long as you’re driving at a very low speed and not creating wakes.
Video after the break!

The Toronto Sportsmen’s Show is now officially over. Everyone is packing up and getting ready to head back home, it’s a shame an event like this can’t go on forever. But let’s be honest, my wallet couldn’t handle it!

I met so many wonderful people at this show, and I’m proud that I was able to spend so much time chatting with them about their lodges, products, and even share some great fishing stories with people from all over North America. As with things of a limited nature like this there are also many things that I simply forgot to do, or simply didn’t have the time. I’ll cover some of the missing bits in a later post, but for now I’m going to sit back and find some dinner.
I also ran into Ed on Saturday and Sunday. He took the photo above and today we both passed the boater exam. We are now officially licensed to pilot personal watercraft in Canada!

Ed’s also the reason why I didn’t get any posting done saturday night. I ended up going to his place downtown to have dinner that night and as it turns out he had a copy of Bass Pro Shop’s The Strike. This of course eventually lead to some epic intoxicated fights with huge lunker bass like the one below (19.9lbs Largemouth Bass). I’m definitely going to pick up a copy of this game the next time I’m at BPS, I had a great time playing it, and would love to review and own it.

Don’t go too far! We’ve still got a ton of great content from the show that we’re going to post!
