Quick Hook Removal
I’m not convinced this is the best way to take a hook out of your skin, but it does make for a great video!

There are a lot of birds out there with some great fishing techniques, but few make it look as spectacular as the kingfisher.

We love our pike fishing here at Fishing Fury. As I’m sure you know, there are no shortage of methods when it comes to catching pike, but we’ve found one that you’ve probably never heard of or seen before – unless of course you are from Grand Isle, Vermont.
Pike Shooting.

I certainly have no problems with guns, but shooting a fish before it gets a chance to spawn can’t be good for pike populations.

What do you do if you’re using light equipment and you hook into a monster fish? These guys decide to daisy chain three rods together to gain the upper hand on a nice size marlin. I have heard of this technique before, but never seen it in action until today. Check it out!
Combat fishing. Sounds pretty cool, and it does often result in high catch rates, but man it looks awful. Combat fishing is setting up a large group of fishermen on both sides of a river, spacing them no more then 10 feet apart. I guess the idea is that with all this pressure, some one has gotta catch a fish. It goes against one of the things I love most about fishing, seclusion. I always avoid fishing where other people are!
What do you think, good idea or bad idea?
Every fisherman has probably had this happen, a big fish inhales your bait and ends up with a hook deep in its throat. It’s never a good thing for a catch and release fisherman. The good folks over at In-Fisherman have but together an informative guide to removing these deep hooks. This is important stuff for any fisherman who wants to release a fish as safely as possible. Click the picture below to check it out.

(3) rolls out below the gill toward the side of the fish. At that point, amazingly, the hook, barb and all, almost always pops free from its hold in the fish’s gullet.
